The Solar Project Development Pathway includes:

  1. FSPV: Fundamentals of Solar PV Design and Installation (40 Hours)
  2. ASPV: Advanced Solar PV Design and Installation (40 Hours)
  3. REPD: Renewable Energy Project Development (40 Hours)

This education pathway is ideal for people interested in business and project development. FSPV and ASPV provide fundamental and advanced technical knowledge on solar photovoltaic energy while REPD is focused on business, policy, finance, and project development for renewables, including solar PV, wind, bioenergy, and more.

After completing the FSPV course, participants are able to install a fully functional grid-tied PV system and are eligible to sit for the NABCEP PV Associate Exam. This credential recognizes individuals who have demonstrated knowledge of the fundamental principles of the application, design, installation, and operation of photovoltaic energy systems and provides an internationally recognized enhancement to any professional resume. Additionally, this educational pathway sets you on the path towards obtaining five NABCEP certifications. To learn more about the requirements for these certifications, as well as the solar careers that these certifications support, visit NABCEP’s website.

By completing this pathway, you receive a certificate of completion from NC State for FSPV, ASPV, and REPD. You also receive the non-degree Renewable Energy Technologies diploma for completing 120 hours of training.
