The NCSU Solar House was built in 1981.

The primary purpose of the Solar House is for STEM education and outreach. Anyone looking for information on solar home construction or personal home improvements should contact the NC Clean Energy Technology Center. Tours of the Solar House are now managed through The Engineering Place at NC State University.

If you are interested in an educational tour and hands-on activities relating to the Solar House, you can schedule a tour by completing this online form and someone from The Engineering Place at NC State will contact you.

We offer hands-on engineering activities, as well as information about the house. We can work with your group to customize the tour to meet your educational needs!

The Solar House is primarily for K-12 STEM education and outreach.

The address of the Solar House is 1201 Gorman St, Raleigh, NC 27606. It is located right next to the McKimmon Center.
