Explore Cutting-Edge Fleet Technologies & Solutions at the Sustainable Fleet Technology Conference & Expo

The annual Sustainable Fleet Technology (SFT) Conference & Expo will take place August 25-27, 2025, at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The event convenes public & private fleet managers, purchasing officials, state government leaders, academic researchers, and other industry professionals who have an interest in sustainable transportation solutions.

The conference includes 12 breakout sessions across three tracks: Planning, Policy and Funding; Advanced Vehicle Technologies; and Medium & Heavy-Duty Vehicles and Infrastructure. Attendees can expect to learn about fleet analysis, funding opportunities, telematics, cybersecurity, battery technologies, hydrogen, renewable fuels, distributed energy resources, among other related topics.

In the Expo Hall, attendees can gain on-the-ground experiences by checking out vehicles on display while connecting with exhibitors who work in the transportation and clean energy industry.

The first day of the conference includes the opportunity for attendees to participate in a Ride & Drive, where alternative fuel vehicles can be observed and taken on test drives. The Ride & Drive will take place across the street from the Benton Convention Center, at the 6th & Cherry St. Parking Garage.

In addition to the Ride & Drive, Monday will feature the NAFA Fleet Management Association’s Sustainable Fleet Management Program. In this certificate program, fleet professionals will learn about the latest, most authoritative practices to help turn ideas into action. The workshop includes four hours of live instruction, a 139-page Sustainable Fleet Management Reference Guide, and a Sustainable Fleet Management Study Guide Online Exam. Registration for this program costs $240 and can be selected when registering for the SFT Conference & Expo.

A Local Elected Leaders Roundtable will also be held on Monday, August 25, where local officials will have the opportunity to hear from their colleagues and share advice on how to implement clean transportation technologies.

The opening keynote address will take place Monday afternoon, where attendees will hear from past winners of the NAFA Green Fleet Awards contest.

Following the opening keynote, the Green Fleet Awards Ceremony will be held, where current winners of the Green Fleet Awards contest will be announced. After the ceremony, a Green Fleet Awards Reception will take place in the Expo Hall.

On Tuesday, August 26, attendees will have the opportunity to hear two keynote addresses, attend three breakout sessions, and explore the Expo Hall during dedicated hours. The morning keynote, “The Pillars of Fleet Success”, will feature experts Rick Longobart, City of Raleigh, and Steve Saltzgiver, RTA, moderated by Heather Brutz, NC Clean Energy Technology Center. Boris Kort-Packard, FedEx, will address attendees during the luncheon keynote, from 12:30 – 1:30pm.

In the evening, a reception will be held in the Expo Hall, followed by a networking event at the ROAR arcade in downtown Winston-Salem.

The final day of the conference will kick off with table topic discussions during Wednesday morning’s hot breakfast. Attendees will attend the fourth and final breakout session, then hear from the luncheon keynote plenary, “What Does the Future Hold?”

The conference will conclude with an Alternative Fuel Resiliency Summit, which will be a roundtable discussion about the ways that fleets can increase the resilience of their operations to keep first and second responder fleets operating during and after disasters.
