Bio

As Clean Energy Training Coordinator, Gena implements, markets and manages a range of clean energy training and education programs for the Center. Gena previously served as Special Assistant for Clean Energy Communications and Stakeholder Engagement for the NC Department of Commerce. In this role, she served as a staff liaison to Gov. Roy Cooper’s NC TOWERS offshore wind taskforce. As staff liaison, Gena co-led the work of the Outreach & Engagement Subcommittee – developing stakeholder learning opportunities including community roundtables, open houses and a monthly newsletter. She worked with the Oceantic Network and the NCCETC training team to coordinate a series of specialized trainings in offshore wind opportunities for North Carolina businesses and organizations. Gena has completed adult education programs with the NC Office of Human Resources and Wake Technical Community College. She holds a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from UNC Chapel Hill.
