Innovations in Wood Energy Workshop and Tour
May 22, 2018, Asheville, NC

North Carolina State University, will host a one-day workshop to focus on building sustainable wood energy markets in the North Carolina Appalachian and foothills region. The event titled, Innovations in Wood Energy Workshop and Tour on May 22, in Asheville, N.C. is a coordinated effort between N.C. State University’s College of Natural Resources Extension Forestry and Wood Products Extension programs, the N.C. Clean Energy Technology Center (NCCETC), and North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service.  Funding to support this project was provided by the U.S. Forest Service Wood Innovations grant.

This workshop will include experts in the wood energy industry, as well as program-specific speakers with experience in implementing wood energy projects for use in industrial and agricultural applications. Researchers will share their findings on how wood energy strengthens communities through economic development. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the state of the energy market, review related case studies, understand resource availability and participate in a short rotation, wood crops field tour.

The workshop will take place at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center, 455 Research Drive Mills River, NC 28759-3423. Continuing education credits are available. Seats are limited, please register today. This is applicable for representatives from manufacturing, schools, agricultural facilities, lumber / sawmill processors and foresters interested in woody biomass energy.
