New Energy-Efficiency Rebates Now Available in North Carolina

By: Justin Lindemann, Senior Policy Analyst

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) announced on January 16th that millions of residential customers in the state can now receive new energy-efficient rebates. The Energy Saver NC program offers whole-home energy savings rebates of up to $16,000 for eligible single-family homes and up to $14,000 for certain electric appliance rebates.

These rebates will give households an extra financial lift to make that much-needed home upgrade or retrofit they might have been putting off. They also give low-to-moderate-income families and households an equal chance to purchase a heat pump or an electric stove—among other high-efficiency appliances and upgrades—and reap the benefits of resiliency while transitioning into the 21st century of electrification alongside higher-income households.

Considering the many existing incentives and opportunities, the North Carolina Clean Energy Technology Center (NCCETC) has released an updated Word to the Wise resource to help residential customers stay informed about the different financial rewards available and confidently navigate the contracting process. NCCETC’s updated Word to the Wise resource – “Your Guide to Home Energy Upgrades with the Inflation Reduction Act” – includes even more information on the Home Energy Rebates and the Solar for All program. In this resource, you can find descriptions of each rebate program to help you plan upgrades and projects as they are available in your state and other federal, state, and utility incentives. NCCETC also published the updated version en español to help as many consumers as possible: Unas Palabras para el Sabio – “Su Guía para Mejorar su Energía en la Casa con la Ley de Reducción de la Inflación.”
