SUMMARY:Misconceptions in Solar: Land Use & Development
DESCRIPTION:The NC Clean Energy Technology Center’s second “Misconceptions in Solar” webinar focuses on misconceptions relating to solar and land-use and development. Concerns about negative impacts on property values\, what happens after a project is decommissioned\, opportunity costs for future agricultural uses\, and other impacts on the local communities are just a few examples where misconceptions relating to solar installations arise. Our speakers offer their own examples of common misconceptions that they have encountered from various vantage points within the solar industry and how they go about providing factual information to their clients and the public. \nSpeakers:\n\nAndrew Weaver\, Extension Specialist and Assistant Professor in the Animal Science Department at NC State University\nKeith Hardt\, President\, Pungo Engineering Services\nLiz Kalies\, Lead Renewable Energy Scientist for the North America region of The Nature Conservancy (TNC)\, and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University\n\nAbout the Misconceptions in Solar Webinar Series:\nAs de-carbonization and the utilization of renewable resources move to the forefront at the legislative level\, academic research\, and industry integration\, more misconceptions about these topics also arise. Join us in dispelling misconceptions in the solar industry as it relates to public health and safety\, land-use and development\, and finance and policy across our “Misconceptions in Solar” webinar series. Hear examples from representatives from academia\, government\, legal\, and business sectors on common misconceptions\, the facts\, and how they counter these misconceptions with their customers and the public. Learn ways to provide factual information to your clients when encountering misconceptions in the solar industry. \nPDHs/CEUs per session:\n\n1.5 PDHs for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (NCBELS)\n1.5 LUs for American Institute of Architects (AIA)\n\nCost: $25 per webinar OR $60 for all three\nRegister Now
