The 40-hour course is based on NABCEP’s Learning Objectives for NABCEP PV Associate.  A hands-on day installing a fully integrated grid-tied PV system pulls together the classroom knowledge and rounds out the five-day\, in-person workshop. An optional hands-on installation day is available to take after completing the online REPV course. \nNABCEP PV Associate Exam: You are eligible to sit for the NABCEP PV Associate Exam after completing REPV.  Please note this is not NABCEP certification\, it is simply an indicator of knowledge gained which allows you to sit for the NABCEP Associate Exam. DESCRIPTION:Fall Session: September 16\, 2022\nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER\nLength: 8 Course Hours / 1 Day \nCourse Cost: $299 \nPrerequisites: Working knowledge of solar PV; currently working in the solar industry; and/or have taken a fundamentals course such as REPV \nCourse Description: Held in Raleigh\, NC\, this day-long session is for those who have taken the 40-hour REPV online workshop or simply wish to gain more hands-on experience.  This hands-on day begins with an overview of safety\, system components\, system design\, and solar fundamentals.  During the course of the workshop you will be filling out “balance-of-system” worksheets to ensure you understand sound PV system design practices.  You will also be installing a live\, grid-tied PV system\, from mounting the modules\, to wiring the inverter\, and finally\, to commissioning the system.

SUMMARY:Operating Sustainable and Resilient Wastewater Treatment Plants with Combined Heat and Power
DESCRIPTION:Wastewater treatment plants are an integral part of the critical infrastructure of a municipality or county. The ability of these facilities to operate\, especially during severe weather events\, is essential to the environmental and human health and safety of the communities these plants serve. Combined heat and power (CHP) has the ability to provide resilient\, low carbon energy for the safe operations of these facilities\, even during times of electric grid outage. Currently\, only five wastewater treatment plants in Florida have CHP systems\, with a total capacity of 15.1 MW. According to the Department of Energy’s (DOE) CHP Technical Potential study\, Florida has an additional 19 MW of WWTP technical potential at 35 sites across the state. This represents a substantial opportunity for counties and municipalities to reduce energy consumption\, advance sustainability goals while at the same time creating a resilient source of energy to operate a critical infrastructure facility. \nThis webinar will bring together stakeholders and end-users to address the important role that CHP has in advancing sustainable and resilient wastewater treatment plants in Florida and across the region. A representative from Miami-Dade Water & Sewer Department (a SWIFt partner) will discuss their system’s two CHP installations and the benefits that this utility has realized from their operation. The Florida Office of Energy will speak about the ongoing wastewater facility energy efficiency program and about the importance of energy security at facilities such as WWTPs. Will Rice of Charlotte Water will present on how to utilize the State Clean Water Revolving Fund for CHP and energy efficiency. The webinar will also include a presentation from the Southeast CHP TAP on the overall benefits of CHP\, particularly at critical infrastructure sites and the technical assistance available through the Southeast CHP TAP to help in evaluating CHP as an option for wastewater treatment/recovery facilities. \nRegister Now

But the additional demand on the electrical system risks further complicating utilities’ careful balancing act to integrate a growing supply of variable renewables.
