SUMMARY:ESS Webinar Series: Renewable Natural Gas? A Primer on North Carolina's Biogas Resources
DESCRIPTION:Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) is methane-based biogas derived from decomposing garbage\, agricultural waste and other organic sources that is processed to natural gas quality standards\, and becomes fully interchangeable with conventional natural gas in pipelines. Currently\, RNG comprises less than 1% of today’s natural gas supply and the Wall Street Journal predicts that Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) may make up nearly 30% of the total natural gas supply by 2040. The development of RNG projects is picking up significant pace in 2022. \nWhat is the opportunity for capturing animal waste as an energy resource in North Carolina? How can this help mitigate climate change and assist with meeting organizations’ decarbonization goals? \nThe natural gas industry is making investments in renewable natural gas. Find out more about the decarbonization of the natural gas supply trends and opportunities by attending this one hour webinar\, hosted by the NC Clean Energy Technology Center. \nModerator: Elizabeth Bowen\, NC Clean Energy Technology Center \nSpeakers: \n\nDavid Nestor\, Piedmont Natural Gas\nDr. Mahmoud Sharara\, NC State College of Biological and Agricultural Engineering\nArt Samberg\, NC Clean Energy Technology Center\n\nREGISTER NOW
