SUMMARY:Earth Day Every Day
DESCRIPTION:Let’s come together as a community to celebrate the beauty and promise of our local environment and the planet. Every year\, communities worldwide uplift Earth Day to mark the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. It reminds us all to do what we can\, in ways small and significant\, to restore\, conserve and protect our environment. \nThe Sierra Club’s Potomac River Group will have a few electric vehicles (EVs) on display and the owners will be available to answer questions. It is a great opportunity to learn from real experience. There will be plenty of information on EVs\, home electrification\, and the Sierra Club. There is only room to display about 3 EVs. SUMMARY:Tracking Down Data: Where to Find Climate and Environmental Information in 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) and Climate Central are hosting a briefing to discuss a key underpinning of the U.S. economy: publicly-available weather and climate data. Federal data is used as an input to weather models that are essential to public safety and helps businesses—from farms and insurance companies to airlines and utilities—make daily decisions. Historically\, Congress has played a central role in directing federal agencies to collect\, analyze\, and report weather and climate data. But today\, hundreds of federal scientific datasets and reports\, like the national climate assessments\, have been removed from public access\, altered\, or buried. Popular climate webpages (e.g.\, climate.gov and EJScreen ) have been taken down or archived. \nIn this new information environment\, universities\, nonprofits\, and national associations are stepping up to fill the gaps in maintaining weather and climate data left by the federal government. Panelists will share where to look for these datasets and explore how these organizations are maintaining public access to critical information without the resources afforded by the federal government. They will also describe the implications of these changes for end users\, from individuals using weather apps to multinational corporations making significant business decisions. \nThis event is free and open to the public. Attendees can join in-person or view the live webcast. \nLEARN MORE & REGISTER

SUMMARY:Continuous Onsite Energy Generation for Data Centers Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Meeting new data center energy needs can impose large demands on the power grid and lead to rate increases to support investments in new generation. Powering data centers with onsite generation as a primary energy source is an important tool to lower costs\, increase energy efficiency and enhance resilience. \nFeatured speakers will be from Spectrum Engineers\, the NC Cleantech Center\, Joule Power and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Southeast Onsite Energy Technical Assistance Partnership (TAP). Joule is developing a 4\,000-acre campus in Central Utah opening in 2026 with support from Spectrum Engineers on behind-the-meter power and thermal generation that will scale up to 12 GW. The infrastructure for the initial phase features a combined heat and power (CHP) system with an electric capacity of 1.5 GW and 1.3 GW of cooling\, using Caterpillar engines supplied by Wheeler Machinery Co. To meet customer demands of resilience and reliability\, the power system is designed with N+2 redundancy and 1.1 GWh of battery energy storage\, for a 60-minute full-load ride-through in the event of grid failure. \nThis webinar\, hosted by the DOE Southeast Onsite Energy Technical Assistance Partnership (TAP) and the NC Clean Energy Technology Center will be informative for end users\, utilities and policymakers looking for ways to navigate in these fast times. \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Cybersecurity and Fleet Technology: Identifying Vulnerabilities and Work Continuity During Crisis
DESCRIPTION:Technology is the backbone of efficient fleet metrics. Bluetooth capabilities inside vehicles\, telematics software integration\, and charging and fueling equipment with network connections all capture\, share\, and store data. They are gateways to your organization’s servers and vulnerable to outdated security patches\, integration issues\, and bad actors. Join this webinar to identify areas of risk to prepare for and prevent security breaches\, and hear lessons learned from a fleet manager who reverted to manual operations during a security breach. This is a great opportunity to assess your resilience to digital disasters\, similar to your existing emergency management planning for natural disasters. \nREGISTER HERE
