SUMMARY:The Open Sustainability Policy Summit
DESCRIPTION:NCCETC’s Executive Director\, Steve Kalland\, will be speaking at the all new Open Sustainability Policy Summit May 2-3 in Washington\, DC. Hear from him during the “Node Collective’s Open Data Repository for U.S. Residential Electrification Incentives” session on May 2 from 3:15-4:15 p.m.\nThe Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering in partnership with Linux Foundation Energy is launching The Open Sustainability Policy Summit. This new\, free event will gather lawmakers\, policymakers\, electric utilities\, auto makers\, technology vendors\, researchers\, and end users of energy to discuss the challenges and opportunities for an open source model of building both technology and standards to accelerate the energy transition. The summit will have a particular focus on how policy and regulation can support this collaborative approach\, while ensuring communities are diverse and inclusive\, and that the benefits of this transition are shared equitably. \nTaking place May 2-3\, 2024 at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center in Washington\, DC\, the summit will address topics including: \n\nHow open source technologies are driving sustainability\nThe impact of open source on the energy transition and sustainable transportation\nBarriers to open source adoption in the sustainability realm\nHow policy\, regulations\, and laws can support open source to speed innovation in sustainability\nEnsuring equity and inclusivity of energy access and the benefits of decarbonization\n\nThe agenda of sessions is now available. Highlights include: \n\nTROLIE: Accelerating Policy Impact through Open Source Collaboration – Christopher Atkins of MISO and Tory McKeag of GE Vernova\nThe Path to 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy: Data Driven Decarbonization and Industry Collaboration – Hallie Cramer of Google and Audrey Lee of Microsoft\nAdvancing Energy Policy with Open Energy Planning – Max Parzen of Open Energy Transition\nIdentifying Data Dependencies for a Robust Granular Certificate Marketplace – Katie Soroye of Level Ten Energy\n\nOrganizations supporting the event aside from LF Energy include EPRI\, The Green Software Foundation\, ISAdvice & Consulting\, M-RETS\, Open Climate Fix\, and OS-Climate.
