The North Carolina Clean Transportation Tour is a one-of-a-kind event traveling to three major metro areas in North Carolina to provide educational and networking opportunities for fleets and clean transportation stakeholders. Each tour stop will include a Savings & Financing for Clean Transportation workshop, a Ride & Drive event for both VIPs and general attendees, table top displays and the 9th annual Mobile Clean Air Renewable Energy (CARE) and N.C. Smart Fleet Awards luncheon. The award luncheons will recognize fleets, technology providers, and individuals who are helping to address air quality and energy diversity concerns in their communities with alternative fuels and clean transportation technology.
The tour will start October 20th in the Greater Charlotte area at the City Club at Gibson Mill, a unique facility catering to car related events in Concord. On October 21st the Tour will travel to SciWorks, a hands-on science museum in Winston-Salem. The final stop, on October 22nd, will be at the City of Raleigh’s new Downtown Remote Operations Facility, the home of Vehicle Fleet Services. This energy efficient facility is situated on 12 acres in North Raleigh and includes fueling operations for biodiesel, E85, electricity, natural gas and propane as well as a new maintenance bay designed for working on natural gas vehicles.
The N.C. Clean Energy Technology Center is organizing the Tour with support from the N.C. Department of Transportation and in coordination with the Center’s regional partners: Centralina Clean Fuels Coalition, Piedmont Triad Regional Council and Triangle Clean Cities.
